My Return From Hiatus!

hiatus 2

So it has been a while internet friends! I know my hiatus was completely unexpected and I am very sorry I didn’t hop on to tell all of you about what was going on. In short student teaching completely took over my life. I had pretty much no time to myself since I was hard at work trying to help my students best. So I apologize for that, but here I am! A recent college graduate and a blogger ready to get back out there!

I am excited to start adding posts again and getting back in the swing of it all. I know my start is going to be slow, honestly I have about no material ready to add but I am going to be working on it ASAP. So be ready for new content as fast as I can. I really am happy to be back and look forward to chatting with all of you again!

As always,
Nicole

PS: Let me know how you have been! What has the new year brought for you? What are you most excited for? Let me know in the comments 🙂

My Go To Mascara: Rimmel & Maybelline

DSC_0675 (2)

Over the years I have tried many different mascaras, from highend to drugstore, and every time I find myself coming back to these two drugstore mascaras. The Rimmel Scandaleyes Flex and Maybelline Mega Plush mascaras hold up better than any highend product I have tried and really do justice for my lashes. Continue reading for full review.

A Huge Thank You! 50 Followers + New Schedule

50

Can I just say WOW! Thank you all! I started this blog up a little bit over a month ago and already I have reached the 50 follower achievement. Everyday I love going on here and see what you guys post, then to post my own content to see that people really enjoy my stuff. It is really humbling to know people are actually reading and enjoying my content. I look forward to posting more and growing more in the community. It has been so much fun connecting with some of you and I look forward to getting to know even more of this amazing community.

I also wanted to talk about my scheduling of posts since my last semester of college is less than a week away. This semester I will be student teaching a lovely 4th grade class, but because the time commitment is much more than just a regular college semester my posts are going to have to be limited each week. As much as I love posting content every day during the work week, I just don’t think it is going to be possible with such a packed schedule. So starting this week I will be posting on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. If I have time and I want to add a quick bonus on another day then that will be great, but for now I am setting a goal of posting 3x a week instead of every day.

I also wanted to ask if anyone would be interested in hearing about my student teaching experience? Or see the outfits I come together with for work? I know this is a beauty blog and I will continue to post beauty material, but just thought that maybe some of you would be interested in hearing and seeing parts of my own experience. Let me know in the comments below.

And again thank you so much for supporting Not Always Knotty. Each and every one of you has inspired me and enlightened me on this whole world of beauty blogging. I look forward to the future and can’t wait to see what it brings!

Nicole

Fall Fashion Trends: All Brown Everything

brown copy

Since Fall is fast approaching I thought it was defiantly time to start covering the hottest fashion and beauty trends. Straight off the runway from Rochas, to Anthony Vaccarello, to Marc Jacobs and more all brown everything was a hot theme. This look is perfect for the Fall since brown matches the tones in which the trees will be turning, plus it matches the makeup trend of ultra smokey eyes. But who can afford such designers? I know I can’t, so let’s go to the next best thing, cheaper versions! That way no matter what your budget you too can fit the hottest new trends.

Beauty on a Budget: Wet n Wild Coverall Line

DSC_0425 (2) copy

Looking for a buildable full coverage foundation? Also low on cash? Well look no further! Today I am going to be giving you the full rundown on the Coverall Line from Wet n Wild.

The Coverall Line from Wet n Wild includes a primer base, liquid foundation, cream stick concealer, and pressed powder. The products I will be reviewing include the primer and foundation, mainly because the concealer and powder would be a skip in my book. To start things off the primer which is the hardest to find will set you back $5. I usually can only find the primer at Walmart and that is if they even have it in stock. The foundation which comes in 7 shades will set you back only $4! The shades that work best for my skin ton are a mix of 815 Fair and 816 Fair/Light. Keep reading for swatches and more!

Get To Know Me Tag

Get To Know Me Tag

IMG_3083

Hello everyone! I thought today would be a perfect day to do one of these tags floating around the beauty blogger world. I just got back from vacation and didn’t prepare enough posts to last this week, so sadly I am behind on content. Don’t worry though! Tomorrow is going to be the day I get everything done. But in the mean time enjoy reading about me and feel free to join in the tag!

1. Is your hair naturally curly or straight?
My hair is sadly naturally straight and is beyond resistant to curls. I also have to battle frizz on a daily and on occasion straighten my hair to make it pin straight. If only it would curl…(says every straight haired woman ever).
2. Do you dye it yourself or go to a salon?
I rock the all natural brown color and have never dyed my hair. If I ever wanted to change it up I would go to a professional because I am prone to mess something up.
3. Do you wear the same style everyday, or do you change it?
I regularly change up my style depending on my mood. If I’m feeling super happy I’ll probably rock a preppy look, or if I’m having a bad day expect a dark look. It really depends on the day!

Late Summer Nail Polish Roundup

polish

Although it is late summer here in the States, we still have a full month left of the real heat! So why not share my top summer nail polishes that are super affordable and available in a variety of drugstore or high-end shades if my picks are no longer available.

The shades:

Egg yolk Orange – This shade flatters all skin tones and really draws attention to your nails. The bright orange is such a summer shade and can be easily pulled off. My polish is by wet n wild in their Wild Shine line in 405. The Wild Shine line ranges from 95c to $1.05 depending on where you buy it and is super rich when applied. No streaks and a one coat needed application. This is also my favorite line of nail polishes since they last a crazy long time on your nails even when working really hard day in and day out.

Any shade of White – Why white you ask? Well because it looks chic and with a variety of variants out there for shades anyone can pull this look off. The polish I have is Rimmel’s 60 Seconds polish in 703 White Hot Love. This particular shade is off white so it flatters my olive skin tone. This line ranges from 98c to $1.20 depending on where you buy. Because white is a tough shade for your nails usually you will need multiple coats. For this brand I find that 3 coats usually does it. The lasting power is also there for such a cheap nail polish.
